Parking charges may rise to fund shortfall

COUNCIL CHIEFS CONSIDERING CHANGES TO MEET 'CHALLENGES'

COUNCIL chiefs are to consider changes to the city's parking fees and arrangements in an effort to help meet what has been described as 'significant budget challenges' while continuing to deliver service improvements.

The proposals, which will be looked at by Plymouth City Council's cabinet, will attempt to maintain the income needed to continue delivering key parking services in spite of increasing costs - as well as make charges more consistent and improve the overall customer experience.

The potential changes include a raft of schemes which will affect motorists including motorcyclists as well as those who use campervans at coastal car parks.

Proposals also will affect disabled drivers using blue badge parking in some parts of the city.
