ON THE BALL: Subbuteo club was all that was on offer for Richard
"I don’t want to go to choir club," echoed around the house, as Emma made her feelings on singing in a public group abundantly clear.

It wasn’t well-appointed, but I now had a deck chair, a workbench, and would happily attempt to fix broken bike bits, which I knew I'd have to replace anyway, rendering the whole process a waste of time, but at least I couldn't hear the shouting.
“You wanted to go, you like singing,” I heard, as I put my slippers on to shuffle out of the family home.
