It's my life and I have the right to choose my death

MRS Keogh writes in her letter to The Herald (November 27) that she thinks assisted dying is really assisted suicide, a small semantic point that she believes betrays society's real intent; which is to bump off the inconvenient elderly.

She talks about mistakes taking away people before their time and with the right palliative care they can have a nice comfortable death.

So, Mrs Keogh, what about mistakes in palliative care?

Unthinking incompetence were made by the medical profession in my friend's end of life care, where nursing staff came in and started shouting questions at my friend as he was struggling to get out his last words to me, destroying our last parting, they needed the bed for someone else I think.

And my own father's case, he had been given insufficient pain killers by a locum doctor who claimed, wrongly, that he was legally not allowed to prescribe more.
