TOM Cleverley is waiting to find out what further punishment he will face after the Plymouth Argyle head coach received his second red card of the season in the Vertu Trophy victory over Bristol Rovers

- writes Chris Errington

Cleverley will take up his place in the technical area for Argyle's away League One game against Peterborough United today, with a touchline ban not coming into force until the visit of Luton Town to Home Park on January 24.

The latest in a series of disciplinary issues for Cleverley came when Argyle were awarded a free-kick by referee Andrew Humphries after Lorent Tolaj challenged for the ball with Rovers captain Alfie Kilgour just before halftime.

Humphries initially appeared poised to show a yellow card to Kilgour as well, but after talking to his assistant referee only a few yards away he gave the free-kick to Rovers instead and Cleverley reacted angrily to that.

Cleverley gave his account of the events leading up to his red card. “Obviously, the decision is clearly wrong and I think I know the reason why. It's not easy officiating at Bristol Rovers.
