BURTON Albion defender Alex Hartridge suffered two facial wounds after his clash of heads with Plymouth Argyle striker Bim Pepple during the League One game at Home Park on Sunday, writes Chris Errington.

However, there were no fractures or any other injuries to the 26-year-old, who was taken to Derriford Hospital for a thorough medical assessment and had an overnight stay.

The first half collision between Pepple and former Exeter City defender Hartridge as they challenged for an aerial ball left both players on the ground inside the Burton penalty area needing treatment.

After a short while, Pepple was able to walk off the pitch and he resumed playing when the game got under way again.

Hartridge was on the ground for a longer period of time and had a bandage placed around his head as part of his treatment before he got to his feet.

The Burton defender could not return to the action, though, and was replaced by Nick Akoto as a substitute.

Burton posted an update about Hartridge on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) on Monday: It read: “We can confirm that Alex Hartridge has been discharged from hospital following his injury in yesterday's match with Plymouth Argyle.
