"This is the right time' Earps quits England 36 days before the start of Euro 2025

Mary Earps has retired from international football with immediate effect, saying it is the right time "to step aside and give the younger generation an opportunity to thrive".
Her decision comes only 36 days before the start of the 2025 European Championship in Switzerland, where England will be hoping to defend their title.
The Guardian understands the goalkeeper has had discussions with the Lionesses head coach, Sarina Wiegman, about retiring from international duty for 12 to 18 months. It is also understood that Earps informed Wiegman she was going to retire during England's last camp in April, but was asked to reconsider.
The announcement was made a day after the Lionesses travelled to St George's Park before the Nations League fixtures against Portugal on Friday and Spain next Tuesday.
