Reeves meets regulators to outline plans for abolition of quangos

Rachel Reeves will meet regulators today after calling for more action to restrict their scope and power in order to spur economic growth.

The chancellor claims the government's plans will reduce costly wrangling and delays, saving businesses billions of pounds, and that regulators need to accept more streamlined decision-making.

Reeves is expected to use the meeting to announce more detail on how the government will cut the cost of regulation by a quarter and set out plans to slim down or abolish regulators themselves. She is expected to announce 60 measures that regulators have agreed to take to boost economic growth.
