Privacy App Unavailable in Italy as Data Watchdog Seeks Answers

The Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek became unavailable for download from the Google and Apple app stores in Italy yesterday as regulators in Rome as well as in Ireland demanded answers from the company about its handling of their citizens' data.
Amid growing concern about how data harvested by the new chatbot could be used by the Chinese government, the app disappeared from app stores in Italy. Apple users saw messages that it was "currently not available in the country or area you are in," and Google users were told the download "was not supported," Reuters reported.
Google and Apple were approached for comment.
