“We really lean into this season, the cost of being a police officer”

Sian, 44, who reprises her role as Grace, says this season highlights her character's growing frustration with the bureaucracy in the police force.

“In Grace's case, she’s frustrated that she isn’t able to bring about the change that she would like,” explains the Staffordshire-born actress. “And also, the attitude, of course, but now she’s more polished.

“Annie is living with a sort of quiet hyper vigilance. She's more careful, more closed off and is at a crossroads of questioning the impact of this career. It’s a sacrifice that leaves her raw, but yet she keeps showing up. There's a real resilience and defiance.”

Nathan, 28, who reprises his role as Tommy says: “He’s coming to the end of these two years (of a probation period) and he’s just still trying to find out what direction he wants to move in the police.
