Venator workers 'very concerned for their futures'

CHEMICALS FIRM IN ADMINISTRATION

EMPLOYEES at a chemical firm whose parent company entered administration this week are “very concerned about their futures’, according to unions.

More than 500 individuals in the North East are employed by the company.

Venator Materials plc - with sites on Teesside and Tyneside, as well as overseas plants - appointed professional services firm Alvarez and Marsal as administrators earlier this week.

The company is the overall holding entity for the Venator Group, which produces titanium dioxide and performance additives used in paint, plastics and other materials.

Venator's North East operations continue to trade as usual while a buyer is sought. The group employs 519 staff in the UK and 2,249 globally.
