Swiss manager's in running for top job

RAPHAEL Wicky has emerged as a strong contender to take over from Rob Edwards at Middlesbrough, with the Swiss manager among several candidates to be linked with the vacant post.

Boro are considering their options following Edwards’ decision to jump ship for Wolves so soon into his time at the Riverside, with names such as Gary O'Neil, Steven Gerrard and Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink linked.

Wicky is a name many may be unfamiliar with, but he has steadily moved up the bettting to sit second favourite behind Gerrard with many bookmakers.
