Steelmen all but clinch league title
The Gazette
|April 14, 2025
REDCAR Athletic have all but sealed the Ebac Northern League Division One title and claimed promotion into the Northern Premier League after securing a narrow home win against Blyth Town on Saturday.
-
Carl Jarrett's men knew a win was all that was required to see them virtually crowned champions, and they earned that victory thanks to a Cameron Gascoigne own-goal midway through the first half.
Second-placed Shildon were 3-0 winners in their home game with Birtley Town to stay three points behind the Steelmen with just one game remaining.
However, Redcar have the benefit of a vastly superior goal difference amounting to 30 goals.
