Late returns leave Edwards in quandary
The Gazette
|October 17, 2025
ROB Edwards admits he has a selection dilemma ahead of Middlesbrough's clash with Ipswich Town tonight, because the majority of Boro's internationals were only training for the first time ahead of the game on Thursday afternoon.
While David Strelec arrived back from Slovakia in time to be involved earlier in the week, the Boro boss was still yet to see Sverre Nypan, Aidan Morris or Sontje Hansen when he sat down to conduct his pre-match media duties at midday on Thursday.
The trio were due to report back for the first time after representing their countries for that afternoon's session.
Boro host Ipswich tonight, with the game moved by Sky Sports for live broadcasting purposes. At the end of an international break, that's problematic, however, with players like Morris and Hansen returning on long-haul flights across the Atlantic. With Ipswich facing the same issues on top of a long journey to Teesside, however, Edwards wasn't interested in excuses.
