SURGERY ON PUNCTURED LUNG FOR VICTIM, A GRANDAD

- By SUE KIRBY

A FORMER para needed emergency surgery for a punctured lung after being stabbed in the back and stomach while visiting his daughter and grandchildren.

Teesside Crown Court heard how Riley Bulman, 20, attacked the grandfather during an incident outside his daughter’s home in Stokesley last year - with the judge saying he came close to killing him.

Bulman, of Sowerby Crescent, Stokesley, pleaded guilty at trial of wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article and appeared before the court for sentencing.

Ellen Wright, prosecuting, told the court the incident happened in February last year when the victim was at his daughter's house at around 5pm or 6pm when there was a knock at the door.
