MIDDLESBROUGH’S new-look coaching staff will give their players a clear vision of what is expected of them this season - but it’s up to them to put their own personality on games.

Rob Edwards’ side are currently in Portugal for a week-long training camp in the Algarve, which has allowed the new boss and coaches Adi Viveash and Harry Watling to find out more about the playing staff.

Former Rangers coach Watling has been impressed with what he has seen so far, and has lifted the lid on how they are getting their message across to the squad ahead of the new season.

“It’s been really good. It’s lovely to get back on the grass,” he said. “Lots of hard work going on, we're just trying to get obviously what the manager wants from his brain to the pitch to the players. But I've really enjoyed it so far.
