REDCAR have been rocked by the revelation that Erik Riss is unlikely to be available for the foreseeable future, but heartened by the imminent return of Jason Edwards.

The Agilia Bears suffered the loss of Riss for most of the 2023 campaign after a rare brain condition caused multiple problems with his vision and ability to concentrate.

And the reigning German champion informed them at the weekend that the issues which wrecked his racing schedule two years ago have resurfaced, again necessitating an indeterminate length of time out of the saddle.

Riss is one of a much-vaunted three-pronged heat-leader trio who have helped Redcar get off to a fine start to the season and reach the semifinals of speedway's two knockout competitions.
