GYM owner Mike Hind MBE says he’s trying to “piece together the jigsaw of why this happened” in the aftermath of a terrifying arson attack.

I'm checking on my family every half an hour... I can't explain why this happened'

An inferno erupted outside the family’s bedroom windows shortly after midnight on Wednesday, April 21.

Footage captured from a Ring doorbell shows a suspect pouring liquid, understood to be petrol, over two cars and a van parked on the drive of the Marton home before setting it ablaze.

Flames roar as the family-of-five rushed to get out of their home to safety.

An investigation is ongoing and Cleveland Police has confirmed on Thursday morning that no arrests have been made at this time.

New evidence has been discovered, Mike said, as he hopes it will put the pieces of the jigsaw together.

"I'm checking on my family every half an hour in the night, pacing the floor. From a parent's point of view, how do I protect my kids?"

Having contacted his insurance company, Mike said he’s been told both cars are a write-off.

He said: “I've asked if they could review them. One of them is irreplaceable.
