CAN SOL OUTSHINE HIS FELLOW KEEPERS AND STAKE CLAIM FOR SHIRT?

- ERIC PAYLOR

THE sun may shine brightly for Sol next season. Middlesbrough certainly need someone to rise up and make the goalkeeper’s jersey their own on a relatively permanent basis.

The door is currently open for Sol Brynn to prove himself worthy if he can win a pre-season battle for the shirt. It’s crucial that Boro get it right. The team must have stability on the goal line if they are to take a positive step forward next season.

So will it be Brynn, Seny Dieng or even Tom Glover, or will the club bring in yet another keeper during the summer? Clearly the chopping and changing last season, which saw four different men occupy the keeper's shirt, was arguably not particularly helpful to the defenders.

club then the door stands wide open. This is a golden opportunity for Brynn in particular to finally prove that he has got what it takes to firmly establish himself at Championship level.
