Bowled over by evening that celebrates cricket
The Gazette
|November 20, 2025
OVER the weekend I was invited to the North Yorkshire South Durham Cricket League’s annual dinner. It is a lovely event as it highlights the best of the sport at all levels.
In a sport that is rapidly developing its women’s and girls’ teams it was great to see so many in the room.
It is always fascinating to go to any sports awards to see what they are doing and it is really important that volunteers are acknowledged. Scorers turn up week-in, week-out and without them the sport would not be possible.
In most sports officials are lucky if they just about get their petrol paid and a few sandwiches, so time given should be praised.
