Boro show resilience of battling Brittain
The Gazette
|September 29, 2025
ROB Edwards says he will respect the away point at Southampton for Middlesbrough, as Callum Brittain epitomised the resilience his side showed again to emerge still undefeated.
Boro ensured they remained top of the Championship as they came from behind to draw 1-1 at St Mary's - Kaly Sene scoring his second in as many games from the bench to cancel out Adam Armstrong’s goal.
But on a day when Boro found it tough against a quality Saints side, who Edwards insists are in a false position, Boro once again had to show their character in overcoming the challenge to still take something from the game.
While Luke Ayling was magnificent once more, it was Brittain’s determination to play on after a cut to his foot had almost forced him off at halftime that encapsulated the Boro spirit and fight right now.
“Callum got a nasty kick to his foot which caused a cut,’ Edwards said after.
“Obviously it’s just straight onto the bone there really, so he lost a lot of blood at halftime. He wanted to stay on though.
