MIDDLESBROUGH led the tributes as club legend and proud Teessider Alan Peacock died aged 87 after a battle with dementia.
Peacock, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2018, passed away peacefully at the weekend with his family by his side.
He had been a regular at the Riverside in his post-playing years after his career ended aged 30 due to a serious knee injury. He returned to Teesside after retirement and ran a newsagents in Ormesby.
On top of that, Peacock became involved in match-day hospitality at the Riverside and became a popular host with his bright smile and cheeky quips.
He also played an active role within the club's Foundation and was heavily involved in programmes creating dementia awareness after his own diagnosis in 2018.
Speaking to The Gazette in 2022, Peacock said: “Being open about having dementia seems to be the right thing to do. I still don’t really understand what it is, but I've been told I have it, so I just have to get on with it.
