GROUP OF 36 PEOPLE PERSEVERED THROUGH TWELVE 90-MINUTE CHALLENGES AND RAISED £21,000
Fitness fanatics took on gruelling 24-hour challenge for charity
FITNESS fanatics defied sleep to take part in a gruelling 24-hour challenge pushing their endurance and mental grit to the limits.
The group of 36 managed to raise more than £21,000 for charity in a feat which saw them perform a total of twelve 90 minute endurance challenges across the time.
The event - the brainchild of Matty Richardson, co-owner of Evolve gym and Brewbox on Hartlepool's Burn Road - saw 18 pairings tackle the round-the-clock Hyrox simulation.
The Hyrox simulation, a globally recognised fitness trend, required each of the 18 pairs to complete a full race simulation every two hours for a total of 12 back-to-back workouts.
One pair's Hyrox simulation required a 1,000m run before every station, with each station demanding a 1,000m ski, 50m sled push, 50m sled pull, 80m burpee broad jumps, 1,000m row, 200m farmer's carry, 100m sandbag lunge and a finish with 100 wall balls.
