Saying it's too heavy a burden on the commuters right now, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. suspended the planned fare hike for Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) last Wednesday.

Fare for the traditional PUJs would have gone up from P13 to P14 for the first four kilometers while for the modern PUJs it would have gone up from P15 to P17 also for the first four kilometers.
“I-postpone na muna natin ‘yan dahil nasa gitna ngayon tayo nitong sitwasyon na ito na kailangan ay patuloy ang ating pag-alalay sa ating mga commuters, sa lahat ng mga ating manggagawa, mga estudyante, lahat ng gumagamit ng ating transport system,” the president was quoted as saying.
