The Archdiocesan Shrine and Parish of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Minglanilla, Cebu, recently inaugurated and blessed its majestic Ceiling Mural Project, a striking visual narrative depicting the Seven Sorrows and Joys of the Blessed Virgin Mary, along with other beloved biblical scenes.
The celebration began with a thanksgiving Mass led by outgoing Cebu Archbishop Jose S. Palma, joined by the parish pastoral team under Fr. Joselito “Joy” Danao, Team Moderator and District II Episcopal Vicar, and visiting priests from across the Archdiocese.
In his homily, Archbishop Palma reflected on the spiritual significance of beautifying places of worship, likening it to preparing a banquet worthy of Christ.
“Si Kristo nag-abi-abi kanato, ug gusto magpakaon nato, dili lamang ordinaryo nga pagkaon pero lawas ug dugo Niya. In an atmosphere of a beautiful church, sayod kita nga kini magdugang sa atong appreciation sa bankete ni Kristo,” he said.
He emphasized that sacred art draws the faithful into the mystery of the Holy Eucharist, enhancing their encounter with the divine.
