Outgoing Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia called incoming Mayor Nestor Archival's claims about his non-cooperation with the transition "baseless" and "unfair", defending his team's cooperation on the turnover of relevant documents to the incoming administration.

This comes after Archival expressed concerns last Thursday, about the late turnover of financial documents from the outgoing administration.

Garcia said he was "saddened" by the news yesterday, saying that Archival may have been misinformed about the turnover process.

“I think it was maybe misinformation, I don't know, wala tingali ma-brief sa transition team atong mayor-elect,” he said.

In his defense, Garcia provided a list of scheduled meetings with more than 20 departments, including the City Treasurer's Office and Budget Office, to meet the transition teams, which transpired between May 29 to June 13 of this year, signifying his cooperation with the transition.

"From the very beginning I have been very cooperative with the incoming administration, because I want them to succeed. The success of the new administration is the success of the entire City of Cebu,” he stated.

He further added that they have been “very extremely” cooperative, asserting that there is no other local government in Cebu City or even in the entire country that is as cooperative as they are.
