Larger healthcare workforce wraps up province's 2025

The year 2025 for Cebu Province ends with an expanded healthcare workforce following the hiring of 376 new medical and support personnel, as part of Governor Pamela Baricuatro's administration's push to improve healthcare delivery in Cebu.

A year-end report from the Provincial Capitol showed that the new hires include 58 doctors, 197 nurses, 47 medical technologists, five pharmacists, and 111 support staff deployed to various Capitol-run hospitals and health facilities across the province.

The workforce expansion came alongside Baricuatro’s first executive actions upon assuming office, including Executive Order No. 1, which immediately released P80 million for emergency medical supplies and P180.74 million for hospital operations.

Another early directive, EO No. 2, restored the Provincial Health Board, reviving a coordinating body tasked with aligning health planning, policy, and service delivery across the province.

With more personnel deployed, the province reported delivering P55.778 million worth of free medical and surgical services, benefiting 10,753 patients through eight surgical missions and 19 medical outreach activities.
