God really makes a way, all the time.
When I wrote and published about the need to beat plastic pollution through ecobricks, I prayed to God to touch the hearts of those who can do something about plastic wastes.
A day after, I received a call from DENR-7 Regional Director Paquito Melicor who soon gathered the Regional Directors of EMB-7, DepEd-7, and DSWD-7.
With our RCE-Cebu (Regional Center of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development), we launched #LOVEOUREARTH Campaign focused on ecobricks, February 14, 2024!
After more than 60 trainings and 7000 participants, we are proud to share that
one happy result of that #LOVEOUR EARTH campaign is the recognition/selection by Global RCE of Cabancalan 2 Elementary School's Ecobrick Campaign to be presented at the Osaka Expo in Japan this August, 2025, as a model of plastic circularity!
Only 3 projects were globally selected from only 3 countries, the Philippines among these!
Their ecobrick school project was started and sustained through the able leadership of former Principal Jessica Wenceslao who will represent this Ecobrick Project launched through the multisectoral partnerships of RCE-Cebu-DENR/EMB/DepEd/DSWD-7, partners from CSOs (civil society organizations), among others.
