The Supreme Court (SC) has approved the conceptual design for the new Cebu City Hall of Justice, with actual construction targeted to begin as early as 2026.

- Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JG

This was the announcement made by the high court in a statement yesterday following the visit of SC Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, chairperson of the SC Oversight Committee, in Cebu on October 8, 2025.

In a statement, the SC said that the procurement of consultancy services for the detailed architectural and engineering design of the new Hall of Justice is now ongoing.

Once completed, the new structure will house the Court of Appeals, Visayas Station, as well as the first-and second-level trial courts in the city.

Three properties are currently being evaluated as temporary court sites.

These are the Noah Project, offered by the Cebu City Government; Kepwealth Center along Archbishop Reyes Ave.; and Il Corso Lifemalls at the South Road Properties (SRP).

Other potential sites are also being explored to facilitate the swift relocation of the trial courts.
