The highly urbanized cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, as well as Cebu City have also cancelled in-person classes.
With areas in the province now under a tropical cyclone wind signal, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) activated its Emergency Operations Center at 5 p.m. yesterday, as ordered by Governor Pamela Baricuatro.
Baricuatro also directed a full inventory of Capitol warehouse supplies, vehicles, and equipment to ensure readiness for potential impacts across Cebu Province.
PDRRMO chief Denis Pastor advised Cebuanos to prepare for the impact of Tropical Depression Wilma, especially today, as it is expected to cross the province and may bring heavy rainfall and strong winds that could trigger flooding in some areas, particularly those prone to floods and landslides.
As Cebu braces for the impact of TD Wilma, the PDRRMO advised the public to implement safety measures, such as staying alert and monitoring regular weather updates from PAGASA and barangay officials.
