City readies heritage circuit for ASEAN Tourism Forum

With the ASEAN Tourism Forum only days away, the Cebu City government is moving to fine-tune its heritage circuit for visiting delegates, even as an urgent repair at Fort San Pedro remains on hold pending clearance from the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

Mayor Nestor Archival said itineraries have been finalized, security walkthroughs are ongoing, and national government agencies are handling the forum's main events. However, he acknowledged that repairs to Fort San Pedro, Cebu's oldest fortress, cannot proceed without approval from the NHCP.

Archival said a portion of the fort's roof has already deteriorated and is currently covered with sacks as a temporary measure.
