From earlier warnings against erring dispatchers in port and terminals, the Cebu City Government has now widened its campaign to address abuses at the seaport, focusing on scalping and overcharging taxi drivers who have drawn mounting complaints from passengers.

Mayor Nestor Archival convened representatives of shipping companies, ticketing outlets, and travel agencies the other day to discuss measures against scalpers.

He was joined by Councilors Paul Labra and Dave Tumulak, Waterfront Police Station 3 chief Police Captain Jade Basingao, Tinago Barangay Captain Dennis Arciaga, and Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) head Raquel Arce.

Scalping is the act of getting tickets through official means and then reselling them outside outlets at inflated prices.
