Cebu ramps up ASEAN Summit preparations

March 23, 2026

Cebu City is intensifying preparations for the ASEAN Summit 2026 in May, with Mayor Nestor Archival underscoring security, cleanliness, and traffic management as top priorities as the city prepares to host prime ministers and presidents from across Southeast Asia.

The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), in coordination with national agencies, has been tasked to secure key routes leading to major venues, including the South Road Properties (SRP) and Mactan, to ensure the unhampered movement of delegates.

Archival said his office, together with the Office of the Governor and officials from other co-host local government units, has already convened coordination meetings to finalize arrangements.

He stressed that Cebu City cannot afford congestion or disorder during the high-level gathering, noting that special attention is being given to critical corridors linking SRP to Mactan.
