Cebu Province recognized for info initiatives

In its commitment to transparency and public access to information, the Cebu Provincial Government has been honored at the 2025 Freedom of Information (FOI) Awards for being among the newly-recognized local government units (LGUs).

Provincial Public Information Officer (PIO) Ainjeliz de la Torre Orong accepted the recognition on behalf of Governor Pamela Baricuatro during the ceremony held last November 28 in Manila.
The Presidential Communications Office (PCO), through the FOI Program Management Office, organized the nationwide gathering of government transparency champions, agencies, and civic leaders.
Baricuatro issued Executive Order No. 3 on June 30, 2025, implementing the FOI Program across all provincial offices and units.
The EO ensures that every Filipino citizen may request information related to official records, policy research, and government transactions, consistent with exceptions under the law.
The PIO emphasized that the province's FOI efforts aim to strengthen participatory democracy by giving the public clearer and easier access to government-held information.
