The long-delayed Camotes Airport development remains at a standstill as land ownership and compensation issues continue to hinder progress, says the Cebu Provincial Government.

Assistant Provincial Administrator Aldwin Empaces confirmed that the project, which began in 2024, has seen little movement due to unresolved property disputes and incomplete land payments to affected lot owners.

“Naay communication pero way resolution,” Empaces said, noting that while discussions were made during the previous administration, no concrete actions were taken to finalize the matter.

He explained that the former provincial legal office had tried to push the negotiations forward, but followups with lot owners failed to yield any binding agreement.

The Camotes Airport, located in San Francisco town on Camotes Island, was envisioned as a major gateway to boost local tourism and commerce. However, three private lot owners have yet to be fully compensated for portions of land used for the airport’s construction.
