Capitol edifice lights up in purple for rare disease campaign

For the first time in history, the Cebu Provincial Government illuminated the Cebu Provincial Capitol in purple, a move reflecting the administration’s support for inclusive healthcare.

This came as the province, at exactly 7 p.m. on February 28, stood in solidarity with the global “Light Up for Rare” campaign, held annually on the last day of February in observance of Rare Disease Day.

Purple, the international color for rare disease awareness, represents unity, courage, and hope, values that align with the Province of Cebu’s continuing efforts to deliver fair and equitable healthcare services for all.

The symbolic lighting marks a significant milestone under the leadership of Baricuatro, reinforcing her administration’s commitment to inclusive healthcare and stronger support systems for marginalized sectors, particularly individuals and families affected by rare diseases.
