Emerging local streaming platform BisayaFlix aims to bring back that Bisdak-flavored energy with its variety show “HugYaw”, which will premiere on June 29 and will air new episodes every Sunday noon on the BisayaFlix streaming app.

BisayaFlix's 'HugYaw' aims to be noontime show for the Bisdak

With a smiley on the U for emphasis, the show plans to be a unique, feel-good program, while also promoting local talent to become household names.

“It’s hard to come up with a catchy name that can be used in a jingle, let alone as a title,” BisayaFlix CEO Elcid Camacho said. “HugYaw is quick and straight to the point because it represents how the Bisaya people are always joyful.”

Akiko Solon, one of the hosts, added: “We want to promote our local influencers, actors, and singers, and what they can offer. We want to give them a platform to promote themselves. It’s really made for the Bisaya, by the Bisaya.”

They shot their pilot episode on June 22 at Parkmall in Mandaue City. While serving as their primary shooting location, the production has plans to film episodes in barangays.

“We want to spread HugYaw, so we plan to do a barangay edition so they can watch our show live,” Solon said. “HugYaw is meant for the masses. They will easily enjoy our show because this is made for them.”

Joining Solon as hosts are fellow BisayaFlix talents Romeo Beltran, Enerva Canasa, Raffy Buenconsejo, and Miss Universe Philippines Cebu 2025 third runner-up Jamie Javier. Other hosts include Jay-R Siaboc, Borgie Cabigas, and Jessel Regis, who will appear in future episodes.

Building camaraderie that can translate onscreen is not a problem for the hosts, as they consider each other family within BisayaFlix.
