Another case vs. Garcia dismissed

Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has been cleared once again, this time of the eighth case filed against him by eight former coterminous appointees of former mayor Michael Rama.

The Office of the Ombudsman Central Visayas has dismissed the case filed by Robert Barquilla, Lemuel Felisario, Teofilo Rosaroso Jr., Glicerio Germudo Jr., Lester Joey Jap Beniga, Vicente Esmeña, Mark Lester Ceballos, and Nelyn Pizarra.

The case was filed against Garcia, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Leocadio Trovela, City Hall Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) head Henry Tomalabcad, Cebu City Police Office chief Antonietto Cañete, and Cebu City legal officer Santiago Ortiz Jr.

In the Ombudsman's decision, it was stated that the complainants claimed Garcia took his oath of office as Cebu City mayor solely by relying on the decision of the Ombudsman that dismissed and perpetually disqualified Rama from government office after being found guilty of nepotism.
