Following objections and protests by local football players, the proposed astro-turfing of the Colaba Backgarden, locally known as Colaba Football Ground, has been cancelled.

MLA Rahul Narwekar said in a video message, “The mud football ground will be retained. The players’ objections have reached me, and the ground will continue to have a mud surface. However, amenities such as floodlights and toilets for players will be developed on the side.”
