No blame on AI 171 pilot: SC

The Supreme Court on Friday observed that no blame could be attributed to the pilot of the Air India flight to London that crashed in Ahmedabad in June this year, claiming 260 lives.

A Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi was hearing a plea filed by Pushkar Raj Sabharwal, the father of Commander Sumeet Sabharwal, one of the pilots of the flight, seeking an independent judicial probe into the tragedy, Live Law reports.

On the petitioner's concern that his late son might be unfairly blamed for the accident, Justice Kant said, "It's extremely unfortunate, this crash, but you should not carry the burden that your son is being blamed. Nobody can blame him for anything." Justice Bagchi also clarified that there was no insinuation

That is nasty reporting. No one in India believes it was the pilot's fault.
