Customs seize ₹3.8cr gold, rescue exotic animals

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Customs officials have cracked down on smuggling, seizing gold worth Rs3.88 crore across seven cases and rescuing two exotic animals.

In the first case, profiling led to the interception of a passenger from Nairobi, concealing 0.930 kg of 24 Kt gold melted bars (four pieces) worth Rs97 lakh in their clothing. The passenger was arrested under the Customs Act. Similarly, another Nairobi traveller was caught with 142 grams of gold bars (two pieces) valued at Rs12.97 lakh, concealed in their clothe
