Coldrif syrup banned in MP, Rs 4L to victims' kin

The state government had banned cough syrup Coldrif after 11 children died in Chhindwara since September 7, chief minister Mohan Yadav said here on Saturday.

"The deaths of the children in Chhindwara due to Coldrif syrup are extremely tragic.
The sale of this syrup has been banned across Madhya Pradesh. A ban is also being imposed on other products of the company that manufactures the syrup", the chief minister said on X.
He announced Rs. 4 lakh exgratia to the families of each of the 11 children who died and said the state government would bear the medical expenses of children still under treatment. The CM informed that a joint investigation team had been formed at the state level to probe the matter. He assured that those found responsible would not be spared under any circumstances.
