Stalin accuses Modi of hijacking Gandhi legacy for RSS

Stalin’s attack has been echoed by Congress, which invoked Gandhi’s own warnings about the RSS
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi on M. K. Gandhi’s 157th birth anniversary, accusing him of using Gandhi’s legacy to amplify the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s centenary.
In a sharply worded post on X, Stalin urged citizens to pledge to “revive India from a shameful situation” in which “the person holding the highest office” unveils a stamp and commemorative coin honouring an organisation whose ideology, he claimed, nurtured the communalism that led to Gandhi's assassination.
Stalin asserted that Gandhi had built the foundation of secularism and urged vigilance when “seeds of hatred are sown’—a clear reference to communal fault-lines he believes the RSS fosters. Before issuing his rebuke online, he laid floral tributes at Gandhis statue on the museum campus in Egmore, Chennai, marking the observance with customary ceremony.
