No relief for govt on Tambaram rents

Madras High Court declined to grant interim relief to the state government on a writ appeal challenging an earlier direction to clear ₹2.18 crore in rental arrears owed to the landlords of the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, allowing the single judge's order to continue to operate while the appeal remains pending.
The appeal arose from an August 2025 ruling by a single judge that directed the state to pay accumulated rent for the premises housing the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, a key administrative unit overseeing policing in the southern suburbs of Chennai. The government had sought a stay on
