The Pimpri-Chinchwad Police on Tuesday arrested a Pune-based businessman accused of duping a share trader of Rs2.24 crore by promising high profits through fraudulent trading apps.

- Varad Bhatkhande

The action was taken by the Cyber Police Station of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC).

The accused was identified as Santosh Sadashiv Rupnar (47), a resident of Manjari Budruk. A case was registered earlier this month following a complaint from a local trader. Rupnar has been booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
