Congress claims Trump’s H-1B visa fee hike, Chabahar port sanction examples of India’s failed foreign policy, while Kharge insists “Bear hugs, concerts and getting people chant ‘Modi, Modi’ didn’t work”
The Congress on Saturday charged that it was Prime Minister Narendra Modi'’s “failed foreign policy” that was responsible for the imposition of $ 1,00,000 fee for H-1B visa applications by US President Donald Trump.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a post on increase in H-1B fee with a message: “I repeat, India has a weak PM”.
The Congress party also cautioned that this could “hit India the hardest” as it would result in “fewer job opportunities for Indians in the US; massive drop in remittances flowing back to India; and pose serious threat to jobs of Indian IT professionals”.
The Congress also passed a sarcastic remark on Trump ina post on “X” saying, “Modi se pyar, Bharat par prahar” (Love for Modi, attack on India). It also commented on Trumps phone call to Modi on his 75th birthday, saying, “PM Modi ko birthday phone, Bharatiyon par badla tone.” (Call to Modi on his birthday, changed tone for Indians).
The party claimed that Modis foreign policy has been “his biggest failure”. It reasoned that “Narendra Modis close friend, Donald Trump, has hiked the H-1B visa fee. Earlier, the fee was about °6 lakh. Now? A staggering “88 lakh annually!”
The Congress said apart from the threats this decision poses, “with mass _ layoffs already happening in India’s top IT firms, this visa shock only makes things worse.”
Kharge terms it b’day gift
