SEEING IS BELIEVING | 'Tragic hero’ releases video, takes responsibility for the stampede
Actor-turned-politic ian Vijay addressed the Karur stampede via a video message, saying he has refrained from visiting victims because his presence might precipitate “an unusual situation,” and urging Chief Minister M. K. Stalin to direct any punitive action at him and not at his party colleagues.
Wrenched with visible emotion and urgency, Vijay begins by acknowledging the depth of anguish the tragedy has caused. He says he has never in his life faced such a painful moment. He insists he will meet families of the deceased and the injured soon, but that his absence to date is deliberate: “I didn’t visit Karur as it would lead to an unusual situation.”
