ANTI-HINDI STIR | It is a symbol of resistance against cultural invasion
Tamil Nadu’s next Assembly election has been framed by Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin as a decisive contest over language, culture and political autonomy, sharpening ideological lines as campaigning gathers momentum.Speaking at a public meeting in Kancheepuram on Sunday to mark Language Martyrs’ Day, Stalin said the forthcoming polls would determine whether Tamil identity would be feguarded or weakened by what he described as growing centralisation of power in Delhi.
He characterised the electoral contest as a continuation of the historic Aryan-Dravidian _ ideological struggle, arguing that political authority was increasingly being used to reshape linguistic and cultural hierarchies.Stalin told the gathering that Tamil language and culture had endured centuries of pressure and adaptation, surviving precisely because of sustained political assertion.
