Police act tough on heavy vehicles
The Free Press Journal - Indore
|October 13, 2025
The Traffic Branch of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) launched a major enforcement drive on Saturday morning against heavy vehicles violating the ongoing peak-hour ban.
The operation, particularly intense in Wakad, saw multiple trucks being intercepted and penalised for flouting restrictions. Heavy vehicles are prohibited from plying in the PCPC limits between 8am and 12pm and again from 4pm to 10pm. Despite this, many continue to move through city roads during restricted hours, often leading to fatal accidents and severe injuries. Recent mishaps have been reported from Wakad, Tathawade, Hinjawadi, Dehu Road, Kiwale and nearby areas.
