Minister assures onion farmers about procurement

Minister for Agriculture Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said on Thursday that the onion farmers in the state need not be discouraged and assured that the government is taking steps to ensure that they do not face any problem.

The Minister said that the government has procured onions worth about Rs 18 crore in the Kurnool market through the marketing department and Markfed at Rs 1200 per quintal and Rs 10 crore has already been deposited in the accounts of the farmers and the remaining Rs 8 crore will be handed over to the farmers soon.
