Forest Minister faces ire of farmers in Mysuru

A day after a tiger claimed the life of farmer Rajashekhar at Mullur in Saragur taluk, Forest, Ecology and Environment Minister Eshwar B. Khandre on Monday faced angry protests from farmers at the KR Hospital mortuary.

The agitators accused the minister of failing to control the menace of wild animals entering human habitats. They also demanded an increase in compensation for victims of such attacks.

Members of the Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association staged a sudden protest and gheraoed the minister when he arrived to pay his respects to the deceased farmer. The protesters raised slogans against both the State and Union governments for their failure to prevent recurring man-animal conflicts.
